"Espaço de deambulação ou de abordagem lírica é aquele, que nesta pintura se constrói; espaço vital, em que a própria deambulação persegue algum secreto, ainda que a luz penetre planícies, tanto quanto os subterrâneos, velhos muros verticais, céus, ou as estranhas horizontais em que o maravilhoso se afoita e tremula submerso.
Se há em Valente Alves um detido olhar sobre a natureza, tal olhar é envolvido por uma amorosa percepção das coisas. Que não estão visíveis ou que são outras coisas que não só as visíveis. Algo as lembra, alguém delas constantemente se lembra. Nem sempre, porém, é a certeza, o que melhor abraça a alma verdadeira, aquela que fundamente e só assim se descobre. O que mais se esconde tem um ponto no espaço, uma espécie de âmago genético em que, fraternalmente, começa a ser. É neste ponto do espaço que, de um modo surpreendente, esta pintura de que falo existe."

"A space of ambulation or lyrical approach is that which is constructed in this painting, a living space in which the ambulation itself pursues some secret, although the light penetrates plains, as well as underground, old vertical walls, heavens , or the strange horizontal ones in which the wondrous one wows and shakes submerged.
If there is in Valente Alves a detained look at nature, such a look is surrounded by a loving perception of things. That they are not visible or that they are other things than just visible ones. Something reminds them, one of them constantly remembers. Not always, however, is the certainty, what better embraces the true soul, the one that bases and is only thus discovered. What else is hidden has a point in space, a kind of genetic core in which, fraternally, it begins to be. It is at this point in space that, in a surprising way, this painting of which I speak exists."
