Nature has long since ceased to be a mystery. The urban space that, in a way, was taken from it, is now definitively subordinated to the law, hierarchy and power of men. But today it is not clear that the city, created to defend man from savage irrationality, is capable of protecting him from the forces of evil, from the demons of reason. Nor is it evident that the city is today the place of abundance or the attraction pole for everything that man needs to live. Some cities have become too uncontrollable, polluting or violent, subverting the original idea of the city. Although the urban model continues to prevail, the city is no longer seen as the ideal form of order, beauty and social organization. This video connects everyday images and sounds of a mythical city due to its cosmopolitanism, in continuous renovation, New York, with a fragment of a text by Ovid, “Metamorphosis”, creating a space for reflection around the idea of decline of the polis, social metamorphosis and the presence of rumor.
