Loop, the title of this video, is also the name of the famous Chicago’s surface metro line, a central urban interface of the city. The vídeo shows, using the loop presentation technics, images captured through the window of a train, in a short travel that starts in the downtown, continues into the industrial periphery of the city and returns to the station of departure. During this traject the ‘body’ of the city is continuously filmed from a point of view up to the third floor of the buildings, offering an ambiguous perspective between the aerial view, in which the observer appears phisically disconnected from the city, and the ground view, on the level of the streets, in which the observer melts with those who are observed. A surprising sequence of spaces, architectures, people, streets, circles, crossing points, machines, lights and graphisms, combined with the train’s speed rythm and the natural metro coach environmental sound, this video aims to proportionate na immersion experience into the complex circulatory system of the city, a large scale network organised in multiple nodes, overlaps, links and interactive fluxes.
