Inspirado no romance inacabado “Andreas” (1907-1929), da autoria do escritor austríaco Hugo von Hofmannsthal, este filme é uma viagem alucinante por diversos lugares e não-lugares, onde antagonismos como a natureza e a cultura, o norte e o sul, a beleza e o sublime se dissolvem em bifurcações, súbitas mudanças de plano e de direcção, cruzamentos. Os trechos da banda sonora, de proveniência muito diversa, aparecem alterados, interagindo entre si e com as imagens, umas vezes tocando-as superficialmente, outras ignorando-as, e em muitos casos fundindo-se nelas. Com excepção das hélices e cataventos, todas as outras imagens se distribuem por 3 grupos que representam as 3 etapas necessárias, segundo a fórmula alquímica solve et coagula, para a preparação da pedra filosofal – separatio, purificatio e conjunctio –, numa alegoria à viagem iniciática empreendida por “Andreas”, feita de metamorfoses mútuas, interacção dos personagens, violência auto-agressiva.

Inspired in the unfinished novel “Andreas” (1907-1929), by the Austrian writer Hugo von Hofmannsthal, this film is an hallucinating journey through several places and non-places, where antagonisms like Nature and Culture, north and south, beauty and sublime dissolve in bifurcations, sudden changes of plan and direction, crossroads. The passages of the soundtrack, of quite various origins, changed, interact amongst themselves and with the images, sometimes touching them superficially, others ignoring them, and in many cases melting with them. With the exception of the propellers and the weather vanes, all other images are distributed by 3 groups that represent 3 necessary stages, following the alchemical formula solve et coagula, to the preparation of the philosopher’s stone - separatio, purificatio and conjunctio – in an allegory to the mystic journey set out by “Andreas”, made of mutual metamorphoses, interaction of the characters, non-aggressive violence.
